Abigail Trafford
Biography

Abigail Trafford is the author of My Time: Making the Most of the Rest of Your Life, published by Basic Books in January 2004. The book explores the bonus decades that come after middle age, an unprecedented period of vitality thanks to the longevity revolution. Trafford is also chronicling this new life stage in a weekly column entitled "My Time" that appears in The Washington Post Health Section. For 14 years, Trafford was the Post's Health Editor. Under her guidance, the Health Section won 10 Penney-Missouri Awards for excellence in feature journalism.

Prior to joining the Post, Trafford worked at U.S. News and World Report as writer, senior editor and assistant managing editor. Trafford began her career as a researcher for National Geographic. She covered the Apollo space program in Houston as a special correspondent for Time magazine and The Washington Post. She was also a teacher at Finke River Mission for aborigines in the Northern Territory, Australia. Trafford is the author of Crazy Time: Surviving Divorce and Building a New Life, 1982, revised 1994.

Trafford has a bachelor's degree from Bryn Mawr College in Pennsylvania. She now lives in Washington, D.C.
